The Motion Picture Costumers, Local 705 have created and awarded a trophy to winners at the San Diego Comic-Con Masquerade since 2016. This Masquerade is a key event spanning 2 hours at San Diego Comic-Con, a costume competition showcasing the tremendous Cosplay work that attendees bring to the convention each year in front of a 4000 seat audience.

My team at The Build Shop was contracted to design and build this trophy from the ground up in coordination with the committee chair of the MPC 705. The original sculpt of the trophy was created in ZBrush under the direction of the committee chair. The model was then 3D printed in high detail using our resin PolyJet printer. Mounting elements were then added, and the entire trophy was electroplated for the final metallic finish. Several additional copies of the trophy were made for the subsequent years of the Masquerade costume competition.
