Redesigning Perception was my 2010 MFA Graduate Thesis project in USC’s Interactive Media Program. I was involved in all levels of design, engineering, and programming.
Redesigning Perception was a project to create non-invasive wearable technology that expands aspects of our human perceptual systems. The SolidSpace Glove was the first of these devices that gives users the ability to touch at a distance. Users can feel the shape of objects from a distance of up to ten feet away without physically touching them using ultrasonic rangefinding sensors and soft haptic feedback that maps distance to pressure on the user’s fingertips.
