The Cat and the Coup

Role: Puzzle Design

The Cat and the Coup is a biographical indie game about the life of Iranian prime minister Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh and his overthrow by a CIA orchestrated coup. Through the eyes of a cat you play through a series of puzzles that reveal the events that transpired, leading to his overthrow. The game is illustrated in detailed traditional Persian art. Its message challenges us to critically question our role in world politics and our colored history as a nation. This game has gone on to garner a handful of awards for its unique vision.

Mid development I was brought on as a puzzle designer for the game. I provided feedback and refinements to existing, established puzzles in the game, and introduced several new puzzle designs to the storytelling sequence that eventually became the final game.
