Walden, a game
Role: Systems Design
Walden, a game is an unorthodox indie game that seeks to embody the life and philosophy of Henry David Thoreau. The gameplay focuses on putting the player at peace in nature and serves as a stark contrast to traditional games. As you explore Walden Pond you will get glimpses of passages from the book the game is drawn from and are challenged to find balance in the needs of everyday life. Over its course of development Walden, a game has garnered a host of awards for its novel approach to immersive experience.
I was a part of the original team developing the game Walden with Tracy Fullerton. During this time I worked extensively with the team developing early prototypes of the mechanics and balance of the game in the Torque game engine, as well as early concepts for initial tutorials and visual effects to provide a diegetic form of feedback to replace traditional UI.
