“Mercy” Headband

The song “Mercy” is featured on the 2015 album Drones by the English rock band Muse. For the music video we worked with art director JC Molina to create a futuristic mind-control headband to be worn by the protagonist in the same vein as the DC Mini from the anime Paprika.

The headband was designed from the ground up for 3D printing in Autodesk Maya. As a wearable piece, it was important that the headband was not only built for the desired visual aesthetic, but that it was also built to the specific dimensions of the actress for a perfect fit. Once 3D printed on our high resolution plastic printer, the piece was finish painted to simulate construction made of a metallic frame with embedded green jewels.
